Can I use two mice???
 

Hi.

I currently have a PS2 wheel mouse which works great under Mandrake 8.0.

However, I have a Logitech Tracball (serial) that I would also like to use at the same time. (I can do this in Windows)

How do I do this in Linux????

In the XF86Config man file it states "There must be exactly one core pointer." Does this mean that using two mice is impossible?

If this is possible, I have the mouse set up for left-hand use, and would like the trackball to be for right-hand use. Any ideas???

Also, on the subject of mice: The trackball is a 4-button model. Using the Windows driver, one of the buttons enables "scroll mode" where the trackball then controls scrolling (the button acts as a sort of "shift" button). Is there any way to get this same functionality under XF86???

Gpm, the mouse daemon, has what is called a "repeater" function. It enables you to have two pointing devices in X, but also on the commandline. Look in the gpm docs.
For scrolling in X use Imwheel, guess you can find that at freshmeat.net.

You can specify two pointing devices manually in the XF86Config-4. I have a ps2 mouse and a touchscreen runnign parallel

Hi, everybody.

I've got a similar situation. I've got an industrial touchscreen computer with an integrated Elo Touchsystems LCD screen and a generic PS/2 mouse. I'm running Mandrake 10 Official. Can you tell me what you did to get yours working, acid?

As it stands, I've gone into the XF86Config-4 file and made the edits recommended at http://www.elotouch.com/support/linux.asp , but I'm wondering if it's a bit outdated, or whether I'm doing something wrong. I can get my normal mouse to work alright, but the touchscreen is "dead." When I do "cat /dev/ttyS2" (the manual for the computer says it's on COM3), I get no output while touching it.
