can I find a .config file for mandrake's precompiled kernels?

Hi, I'm having some trouble compiling my kernel ... I've tried with both 2.4.something and 2.6.0-test11 but noone seems to detect my usb mouse properly even though all HID stuff etc. is in there.
However when I run a precompiled kernel from mandrake "vmlinuz-2.4.22-10mdksmp" everything works fine.

So the question is if I can find a .config file with all the settings they used to compile this kernel so I can take it from there.

Cheers, Martin

Martin,

For some reason, at least in my experience with Mandrake 9.2, the kernel source and config files are not installed on your system unless you specifically install them during the initial system installaiton.

If you need the files for kernel tweaking, simply use the Package Manager that comes with your distro version. You should be able to install the files off the iso disks you used to install your system.

Good luck.

kernel source takes up over 175mb. would you really want that install without asking??

if you install the kernel source rpm, you should have a .config file either in /usr/src/linux or /boot
