Can anyone tell me how to start using perl? Please...


I am a newbie in Perl. I just read out some books and trying to learn but it seems difficult for me. How can i check whether I have an interpreter. Please help me how to start learning it. Thanks.

to start programming you have to stick with it. dont skim, read. well if you can run a file containing

#!/usr/bin/perl

you have a perl interpreter

The perl cookbook is nice, shows simple things you can do right from the beginning.

Theres also some samples online so you can find out if you need something more basic.

In order to check whether you have an interpreter or not, just type 'perl -V' in the shell. If perl is installed, you will get a report.
