Canīt install Mandrake because of Partition Problems

Hi,
I wanted to install Mandrake 9.2 but I canīt reduce the space of my Harddisk more than 18GB although itīs 20GB big, all with Windows XP Prof.
When changing into the Expert-Mode, entering the desired space when clicking OK it changes the space number to i.e 18466MB

you mean you cannot get it smaller than 18GB? Start windows and then disable swapspace, automatic backup for system restore and do a defragmentation (the swapspace thing is somewhere under my computer ->properties, I think). This will probably give you more room.

Once you are done installing linux, you can reactivate the things if you want.

Not sure I understand the question but check this out.

Many drive manufacturors use 1,000,000 as a MB and 1,000,000,000 as a GB and so on. It makes the drive look bigger but it's not in binary. If you use 1024 instead of 1000 you can calculate the actual size.

20000000000 B / 1024 = 19531250 KB
19531250 KB / 1024 = 19073.48633 MB
19073.48633 MB / 1024 = 18.62645149 GB

Or maybe that's not it.
