Can't run Empire in Kali Linux

Hi, I have Kali Linux 64-bit on VMware and Windows 10 Host. I'm following a book for Kali. My problem is with Empire.A few days ago I got the error:
splinter 0.8.0 has requirement selenium>=3.8.1, but you'll have selenium 3.5.0 which is incompatible.
So, I downloaded selenium 3.8.1 but I don't know how to install it. Can anyone explain how? Then I tried reinstalling Empire and now I get the error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "./empire", line 1397, in <module>
main = empire.MainMenu(args=args)
File "/opt/Empire/lib/common/empire.py", line 92, in __init__
(self.isroot, self.installPath, self.ipWhiteList, self.ipBlackList, self.obfuscate, self.obfuscateCommand) = helpers.get_config('rootuser, install_path,ip_whitelist,ip_blacklist,obfuscate,obfuscate_command')
TypeError: 'NoneType' object is not iterable

Does anyone know how to install selenium 1.8.3 and fix Empire so I can continue reading? Please reply. Thanks

Hi, I'm back. I think I fixed it. I ran "reset.sh" and now Empire starts fine. After running a cme command from my book I no longer get the selenium error. I do get one saying:
Error authenticating to Empire's RESTful API server!
Does anyone know how I can fix that?

first read this: https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ad-4175614092/
then you may try:
pip install selenium

which book is it at all? what was that cme command? Did you check the documentation of Empire already?

Hi, thanks for your reply. The book is "The Hacker Playbook version 3." My command is:
cme smb 10.100.100.0/24 -d 'cyberspacekittens.local' -u '<username>' -p '<password>' -M empire_exec -o LISTENER=http
I think selenium is working fine but I still get an error:
Error authenticating to Empire's RESTful API server!

it looks like it is a simple authentication error, the provided user/pass is incorrect.

Why the heck are you doing this in Kali? Kali is a distro for professional penetration testers, not for newbies who want to be "hackers". By your own admission, you don't even know how to install software yet. Please go away and cut your teeth on Mint or Ubuntu or Fedora or Debian or any of a dozen others.

@Mike9876

If you look at the sticky; https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ad-4175614092/

You will find resources that will be helpful, most LQ members do not use a pen tool like Kali. So you should be looking/asking elsewhere; More from sticky;
This will help you to compose a good post, so I suggest that you read it; https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...#faq_lqwelcome
Hope this helps.
