Can't recognize more than 2gb harddisk size

Hello,

When I tried to install RedHat9, it can't recognize my 30gb harddisk.

It just showed 2016Mb.

I am using RH8, and I remember that it also just recognized 2016Mb when I installed RH8. After installed the RH8, I used PartitionMagic to create another partitions and merge them together.

But now, I want to upgrade to RH9, it still has the same problem(can't recognize my harddisk size).

What can I do and how I can solve this?

Please give me a hand.

The brand of my harddisk is IBM(30GB) and forgot other information.

Best regards,
Eric

What is your motherboard? It sounds like a Bios-related problem. Perhaps your bios doesn't recognise any drives above 2 gig. If so, is there an updated bios you could flash your motherboard with?

The BIOS can detect the HardDisk and can get the exact size.

In fact, I tried to install other version of Redhat.

It can get my harddisk's exact size in Redhat7.0 and 7.1, but failed in other higher version (7.2, 7.3, 8,0 and 9.0).

It's very strange.

And it also can detect in DOS and M$ Wins.
