Can't mount ufs filesystems

Hi! I'm having some trouble mounting my FreeBSD partitions under Linux (2.4.26/gentoo 2004.3). Whenever I try, i get:
Code:
# mount -t ufs -o ro,ufstype=44bsd /dev/hdb7 /freebsd
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdb7,
or too many mounted file systems
hdb7 holds a valid UFS filesystem for FreeBSD 5.3 -- but i tried them all just to make sure i wasn't trying to mount the swap partition. I've enabled UFS read support as a module (and loaded it, but i got the same message before that). I have yet to try it with built-in, read-write ufs support, but i'm sick of so much rebooting already :P I'll let ya know if that works.

By the way, my partition table is something like this:
hdb1: windows
hdb2: linux extended < hdb5 hdb6 >
hdb3: linux swap
hdb4: freebsd extended < hdb7..11 >

Anyone else had such trouble?

I read the kernel docs and found that I had to use -o ufstype=ufs2 for FreeBSD 5.x filesystems; ufstype=44bsd is only for FreeBSD 4.x and earlier. It's not mentioned in the man page for mount, though. Thanks.
