Hi. I recently got a new cd burner/dvd rom drive and put it in my computer and now when i go to start it up it says hdc drive not ready for command and it won't load. I am running fedora 2. I checked the bios and it is set to boot from cd first but i can't get a live cd going or another distro disc to go. I can use GRUB to go into a commandline type mode to do stuff like reboot but other then that im not sure what to do. Could i maybe download Damn Small Linux onto a floppy and maybe mount my partition to configure hdc? Last i knew hdc was my dvd rom drive. I'd really appreciate the help cuz until i get some i have to use windows.

i thought DSL was smaller, could i possibly put it on a thumb drive? Or what about floppix?
