You know what would be even better? If someone would create a redhat-based distro with everything redhat has +xine +mp3 support +nvidia drivers installed. If I knew more about it, I would do so. All that redhat has copyrighted are the logos and the term "bluecurve." Replace the logos with your own and replace the term "bluecurve" to "wonderland" and you've got it! If I only knew more c++ I'd do it!

i got these when i tried to install the src.rpms. then i downloaded and tried the tarballs. the drivers installed error-free, i edited my XF86Config file, changed back to runlevel 5 and rebooted.
Red hat gave me the 'i couldn't start the X server' dialogue so i checked the error messeages. it said 'failed to initialise NVIDIA drivers'. First of all, i would like to know how i may be able to fix this, and install properly.
secondly, after i went back to the XF86Config file to revert the changes i had made, my computer wouldn't run GL like it used too. how can i get this back?
Hi,
Hi could install the NVdriver but only on the initial kernel of RH 8.0 (2.4.18-14). I have now tried to install it on e newest one (2.4.18-17.8.0) without success . Maybe that a problem of include files ( where the hell can I get the header file for my new kernel !!??)
You say you've tried installing the NVidia drivers with a newer kernel... but which NVidia drivers? The .RPM, the .SRC.RPM (or .SRPM) or the .TAR.GZ files? If it's saying that you need the header files, then you should install the kernel source for your running kernel - if you go to RH's site, you should be able to get the source files for your specific kernel from there.
Thanks for your replay Grant,
The driver I installed is the src.rpm and I tried also the tar.gz. Both didn't install. I will try to get the kernel header files from RH.
