Can't contact ldap server(-1)


Hi

just a day ago ,, i made an ldap server.. i mean it worked fine,,database was created ,authentication was fine,, then i decided to do the client part day after ,, i again restarted my machine and start the ldap service and checked the service by service ldap status,,
( it was showing me it is running),, but when i double check the database by this command:

ldapsearch -x -b "uid=user,ou=People,dc=newmoon,dc=com"


the output was

cant contact ldap server(-1),,,

why i m gettting this error,,,i restarted the service,, then also it cant contact,, wht can be the problem,, can anyone tell me ,,
