Can't change resolution to correct one
 

Okay, The current resolution is the standard non-widescreeen one. I need 1280 x 800, but there is no choice to do this. The font is stretched, and my eye hurts. Someone told me something about my video card, so, it's an Intel one. I forgot which kind, and I don't know where to check. I am on a laptop. Model: Acer Aspire 1642WLMi.

You video card is 'Mobile Intel 915GM Express'. If you can't choose 1280x800, you've got to configure your X accordingly. Most of the distributions have the X configuration file here: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
You have to edit that file and to find the section with resolutions, then adding yours there.

I have tried that. All of the resolutions on there are already 1280 x 800.

There might be several config files on some distros in /etc/X11 (as i remember) of which only one is used at time.

Also you may try pressing Ctrl+Alt++ or Ctrl+Alt+- while running X11 to in order decrease/increase resolution. But i doubt it only uses xorg.conf.
