Cameras or motion sensor tracking

Hi all,

This is a bit of a stab in the dark but does anyone know of any fedora compatible hardware/software that will let me either track when a door is opened/closed or use a webcam or sensor of sorts to track the same? Not looking for freeware only solutions but ideally the cheaper the better - only limitation is that whatever solution is suggested it must work with fedora (16).

Thanks
