bypass lilo default boot image temporarily

I'm looking for a way to bypass the lilo default boot image
Code:
default=<name>
temporarily, ie on current reboot only.

When I issue a reboot, I'd like to temporarily change the default boot without having to edit lilo.conf and rerun lilo

thanks

When the loader comes up hit the option to edit & remove the "splash" entry.
