burned .ISO file bootable Fedora core 5
Hi guys,
I just downloaded fedora core 5 and burned the 5 .iso files on the cd. When I try to run it by restarting the computer, it doesn't boot the first cd. I simply burned the all of those .iso files onto cds. It is not working. Next step what I did, I extracted the first fedora cd.iso and then again burned the extracted files but this thing didn't work either. I have got redhat 8.0 which is working fine in CDS but I don't wana install it. I wana install fedora core 5 but the problem is I am not getting started and I need help n tips regarding that and how to make the firstcd.iso bootable. I read the installation instructions at fedora's website plus many other sites but they didn't mentioned anything about .iso. I am using the PC and it has atapi version of dvdrom which is capable of picking up bootable cds. Any ideas... the sooner the better for me |
can you read the disc in windows? note that you need to burn it as an image, not just copy the file to a cd. normally the contents should include files and directories called EULA, GPL, images, isolinux, Fedora, autorun, RPM-GPG-KEY, TRANS.TBL. if you aren't seeing these filse, you will have burnt it wrong. also you need to burn the image itself as it makes it bootable. just copying the fiels from it won't

Just copying an iso file won't work ... extracting the iso won't work either. What you need to do is "Create a DVD from Image/ISO".
If you're using Nero, follow these instructions: Quote:

Where did u download it , windows or linux? How did u write it? most probably u wrote the disk as a DATA CD rather than as a bootable CD
