built source conflicts with dependencies!

Hello!

I've built and installed lirc for my receiver type, however when i try to install mplayer it demands lirc installed too. This is with rpm's and apt-get.

apt-get:

Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
lirc
The following NEW packages will be installed:
lirc mplayer
0 packages upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 removed and 1 not upgraded.
Need to get 0B/4453kB of archives.
After unpacking 11.7MB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n]

I don't want to destroy my lirc setup whenever running apt-get or otherwise, can anyone tell me what i should do? Can i just install the rpm regardless out dependencies? How will future upgrades work?

Thankful for any tips!

rgds,
Goofee
