I'm running slackware 9.0 and am having problems configuring the sound too.

modules.conf

alias sound cs4232
options -k cs4232 io=0x530 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 synthirq=9 synthio=0x388
alias midi opl3
options -k opl3 io=0x388

When I load module cs4232 I receive this:

/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/sound/cs4232.o.gz: init_module: No such device
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/sound/cs4232.o.gz: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/sound/cs4232.o.gz: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/sound/cs4232.o.gz failed
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/sound/cs4232.o.gz: insmod cs4232 failed

The address has correct but the module can't initialize...

Help me please....
