Brk Grew By 8k???

locked my desktop (gnome) in mandrake 9, and the screen had a message including time "brk grew by 8k"??? did a quick google search, and looks like a bug of some sort. is this correct, and how to fix (updates?)? TIA.

edit: noticed that some of the google searches gave info on writing device drivers in assembly language for linux. perhaps this is a driver issue? i have had the same message on a second mandrake box ( brk grew by 64k), and the video card is integrated on a fic am37, verses a g550 agp card w/ the other. the x- screen saver is what is generating these messages.

I think you'll just have to disable diagnostic
messages in xscreensaver ...

great, but i would really like to know what it means. it doesn't show up everytime i lock the computer/ desktop- but it's better to apply a fix if possible / required, than to just sweap it under the rug. i think the analogy of a vehicle that has warning light regarding oil, engine temp, ect..., it wouldn't be advised to shut those lights off because they are annoying? not sure how critical it is, but i'd rather know what" brk grew by *k" is referencing, and applying a fix if necessary. but first, what does it represent?

It means that one of the modules you're using
has got a memory leak :} of 8K ... which wouldn't
bother me too much since I don't usually stay logged
in 24/7 ;}

Cheers,
Tink
