Bringing Up Command Line\prompt
 
WHEN I HAVE BOOTED UP RED HAT,HOW DO I BRING UP THE COMMAND LINE\PROMPT??.CAN DO IT IN WINDOWS,BUT NOT IN LINUX!!HELP WILL BE
APPRECIATED.E-MAIL IF POSS, IF NOT USE FORUM AND HOPE I CAN FIND ANSWER:))FRANCIS F.HUNT4@NTLWORLD.COM

Please don't shout and per LQ rules, don't ask people to email you as that's not what the forum is for.

If you're using GNOME, you should be able to right click on the desktop and select "Open Terminal".

If you're using KDE, you should be able to find it in the menu. There should be a button on the bar at the bottom that brings up a menu and if there's no entry for "Terminal" or"Konsole" there, look under "System", that's where it is in my version of KDE.

For any other window managers, look around their menus.

Not sure if this will help or not
but in Mandrake ( which is similar )
go to the main menu
and in the Run command
type Konsole
