Breakpoint in 2.6.26.5 Kernel module

I am trying to put breakpoint in the module initialization code of our
networking driver. Since this is PCIe device, pci_probe routine gets
called during module insertion (explicit insmod by user). I am not sure
how I can break into this routine for 2.6 kernels. Also at this point
/proc/modules or /sys/modules/<module_name>/.text is not updated. So even
if it possible to break in how can I get the symbols ?

Also I do not want to call kgdb_breakpoints() explicitly from my code,
because this may not work for slightly older version of the 2.6 kernels.

Any suggestions / help is welcome.

Thanks.
