Box randomly reboots...how do I find out why?
I have a wifi free-hotspot on my terrace, running RH90. It has 3 wlan interfaces, and 1 ethernet. It routes packets to and from the rest of our community wireless network.
I experience random crashes...For ex, it works fine for 15 days, and one night, I just loose any response from it. When I go to the roof for a hard reboot, the machine is working, the lights of the WLAN cards are working normally...but nobody pings anything through it. Can anybody help on tracking down why this happens? Are there any logs that I can check? I couldn't find something useful in /var/log/.. Maybe because I don't know what I should be looking for.... HELP! For the curious:rooftop PC project(in Greek only unfortunately) |
are you sure these are "random"?
maybe it becomes overheated, or just exceeds bandwidth. |
Both cannot be true. The box is coooool(its cold here) and wifi conections can't reboot a 400Mhz PIII due to traffic.....

check /var/log/syslog and /var/log/messages

400mhz P3? i didnt realize they made those.
your hardware is rather old, maybe RH9.0 doesnt support it good. |
