bootloaders ~ which is best?


is lilo or grub better for a system running only mandrake?

well both are actually good, but i prefer lilo, more documentation for it and most people are more familar with it as well it seems..

but for a system with just mandrake.. really either will do the job..

i prefer LILO too. it's more universal with other distros (slack, debian don't use grub). plus i'm just used to it... but i do hear grub is nice though.

Both are good, GRUB has good graphical features, but both get the job done.

I personally like to use lilo between the two, but as bootloaders go, I actually use XOSL. You can find it at www.xosl.org.

It will boot any os on any partition, has nice graphical features, can install on its own partition, and you can password protect the boot os's and such.

Lilo can do this all too... although it is a bit of a headache to set-up. The tradeoff is that any query you could ever have you just plug into google... Right now I've got Lilo booting 2 flavors of Linux, Win98 and FreeBSD4.4.
