Booting cdrom from grub?
 
Is there a way to tweak GRUB into loading the something from a cdrom?

Help appriciated... :D

I'm going to guess that your bios won't let you boot from cdrom...otherwise there would be no point.

I'm not sure if it's possible, but did you try make an entry where instead of root being /dev/hda2 make it /dev/hdd. I'm not sure if it would work but it's some place to start anyways.

Ok thanks, and yes; my bios won't let me boot from 'some' CDs.

That doesn't work... /dev/hdd doesn't exist...

Shouldn't you're bios boot any bootable cd? The only problems I've had with bios not booting is if the cd iso was burned wrong.

Probably because the kernel hasn't initialized it yet. It might not be possible. There's all these cd distros that are all on the cd, and there's never anything said about booting from the bootloader. SOrry to say, buy it just might not work.

You could try other entries like /dev/cdrom or /dev/hdc --whatever your cdrom entry is.
