boot time


How long does linux normally take to boot up. Because Its taking me like 2 minutes. And im using a AMD Athlon XP 3000. So its no slow computer.

All depends on really what your loading at boot time. I have a Celeron 400mhz that boots in about 20 seconds.

SonKun,

try to disable some options in kernel (recompile it) There are many posts about this topic, try to run search on it.

I've done it and ....

35 seconds for prompt +another 12 seconds to start GUI (BlackBox) on
P133
32MB RAM

And i'm proud

And my gui-less k6 takes about the same

AthlonXP (cough) 2100+ with Gnome about the same again

Does your's hang for a while when loading on a particular load up item?

No everything just takes a long time at startup. Not just one thing.
