boot problems
Ok, here is the story. I had 2 harddrives, windows was on the matster, being hda, and Mandrake linux was on slave, being hdb. I was using lilo to dual boot. I decided to take the windows harddrive out, I changed the linux harddrive to master, and booted up. I got past the bios, and where it normally showed lilo, i got an L and 07 repeadted infinatle. "Thats fine" I thought, so I stuck the first mandrake linux cd in the drive, ran the rescue program, ran lilo, and got the error that there was no hdb. "Duh" I thought , I forgot to change the lilo.conf file. So I stuck the old windows harddrive in, booted to linux, edited the file, but neglected to delete the windows part. I took the windows hard drive out, switched the linux hdd to master, and rebooted into rescue mode, ran lilo, and after it said "adding linux" it had a fatal error while trying to add windows. So i stuck the windows hdd back in, booted up, and got the error "no operating system" so now I can't get into either linux or windows, but I can get to the rescue prompt. Can anyone please help me? I also tried using grub, but I got similar errors.
