Boot Problem. Please Help

Hello,
I am just having some problems. I just got 2x 250GB SATA drives for Christmas. I currently have a my main drive in my system and Ubuntu and Windows on it. Along with that, I have a IDE 15GB drive, and a 120GB IDE drive (the 15GB has a backup installation of Ubuntu). Anyway, I installed the new drives, configured them in the BIOS, and GRUB loaded. I select my Windows partition and try to boot into it.It simply stalls, as does my ubuntu partition. Then I tried the 15GB partition's installation, stalls as well. (Some of these stalls included messages like "this partition dosen't exist"). So after trying to figure this out, I popped in my Knoppix CD, and I was able to read all my partitions and drives with no problems whatsoever. This leads me to believe GRUB is screwed up, so I tried reinstalling Ubuntu, no go.
Anybody have an idea what I could do to solve my problems, it would be greatly appreciated.

If I understand you correctly, you've added the two SATA drives as blank drives, and you want to boot from your 120 GB IDE drive as you did before. If this is the case, then the drive letter assignment Ubuntu gives this drive may have changed to incorporate the SATA drives (e.g. hda3 --> hdb3 or something). You should be able to solve this by booting with Knoppix and looking at the drive letter assignments, and comparing them to the ones in your fstab and grub menu.lst files. Back up any changes you make to these files.
