boot partition suddently damaged

why do my boot partition suddently damaged that is hda5
when i used RH9 CD rescue disk it wont mount it. i couldnt boot in to linux at all
everytime i boot into linux i'll get "grub>" nothing can be done.
i scanned my maxtor dimond max plus 9 with maxtor PowerMax utility to check whether my HDD is damage and i shows up that i dont have error on the HDD. so why do i suddenly got this problem. should i reformat my RH9. i just reformat my RH9 and boot into it twice without doing any changes and the 3rd time got this problem. the boot record on my hda5 seems to be damaged.

what should i do to recover my grub and restore my boot record. i cant even mount hda5 into my filesystem.
