well since you removed the OS you will now have to put in the install disk or boot disk and remove the partition with fdisk or druid.

You can try dos/windows fdisk /MBR if it's on the master boot record but I would read this first... It could trash the harddrive.

http://support.micro$oft.com/support...s/q69/0/13.asp
replace the dollar sign in the link with an s

Here is some of what it says

WARNING: Writing the master boot record to the hard disk in this manner can make certain hard disks partitioned with SpeedStor unusable. It can also cause problems for some dual-boot programs and disks with more than four partitions

-----------------------------------------------------------

If you can dig up an old windows 95 setup diskette #1 it will fix it.

Play it safe and use linux if you have the disk. go thru install until you get to disk druid or fdisk and then remove all partitions, write and reboot.

Or use a linux boot disk, bring up fdisk like this

fdisk /dev/hda

note that hda is the primary master only....

p to show partition info

hda1 , hda2, hda5, etc

delete them one at a time by using d

o to write a dos table, probably not necessary.

then w to write it

I think that will do it not sure.

then reboot to windose setup

----------------------------------------

This should also do it

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda

You can stop this after a few msecs and you should be ok.
