Boot log to detect errors

Do you know a way to know what's up at boot time?? Before that the sistem is ready to "be used" there are some "errors" I would like to solve.
Besaides, the "/var/log/boot" file is empty.
Suggestions??

Your boot log will be stored in "/var/log/messages" along with other system logs, you can view your boot logs by using the command "dmesg".
