boot issues
Hi,
I have Redhat 8 installed with a stock and also an upgraded custom kernel. Both seemed to be booting ok until today when my hard drive seemed to have some issues and I had to reboot. I was then unable to boot because of a kernel panic (try passing init= to the kernel), same error with boot floppy.
Luckily I had created an emergency boot disk and after a few tries was able to get it started up by passing : linux root=/dev/hda3 initrd=vmlinuz
Now I can boot off the floppy and everything is normal, except that I can't boot without the disk or these additional parameters. How can I fix this? I'm using grub and it worked before, so i'm not sure what is going on or where to go from here. I'm also kind of more used to lilo and not grub so any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
