Boost Speed at Boot time

Hi everyone!

Im using a laptop witch is connected though a router-modem with eth0.
I was wondering if it is possible to send the service in background to wait for ip broadcasting.
I guess it would spare me some time.
Ps: Im using Mandrake 10.1 if that helps.

I'm not sure about that but one common way to speed up boot-time is to disable hotplug and add the modules you're going to need in /etc/modprobe.conf

Re: Boost Speed at Boot time

Well I don't feel very confortable by doeing anything witch involvs the kernel.
I meant by services, hotplug doesn't consume time with me... I believe that it is already disabled for boot-time by default.

The one service that really neads a boost is the service eth0.
