Boost sector > 1024 cylinder

Hello all,
I cud install linux (red hat 7.1) on fat 32. but the performance is very poor. So i created partition, 1 for linux native (2GB) & 1 for swap (150MB). But while installation, the swap drive can be created, but while creating native, I get error that boot sector > 1024 cylinders.
Pl. help.
I have 40 Gb hdd. From win98se i can see
C: 10 gb
D: 15 GB
E: 10GB
F: 2GB
G: 150MB
I want to use F: & G: for linux.
Regards,
~A.

Older versions of Linux have a problem seeing past the 1024 cylinder for boot info to boot into linux. Either your going to need to get your or a Linux partition closer to beginning of the hard drive or you can try a later version of Linux.

What version were you trying by the way?

Before I realized it, this is a cross reference... please do not double post the same question in different forums.
