blue background color (how to change)

Hello everybody,

I have the following problem.
I hate blue color (blue is cold).
Blue color makes me blue.
Can anybody tell me why X always
displays a blue background before
gdm starts and between gdm login screen
and splash screen?
And how to change that blue color to
something different, or to turn off
background color (make it black)?
I tried all settings, nothing helps.
I think this behavior is common for all
linuxes.

Thanks.

If you are using Gnome desktop try Desktop>Administration>Login Window>Local and under your list of GDM themes change the Background color to what ever you like.

No, I always use KDE desktop, but gdm.
May be this is a problem, because blue background
appears BEFORE gdm is loaded and BEFORE kde desktop
is loaded. I think this blue color is not a setting of
KDE (I tried to change everything, nothing helps).
I think this is something deeper and cannot be fixed by changing
desktop settings.
I notice the same blue color on all linux machines that
I know (Debian Gentoo or Red Hat).
This is a dirty-blue color. I thought that it was
related to Red Hat distribution (because their default theme
was dirty-blue), but now I switched to Ubuntu and find the
same dirty-blue color there.

Igor.

Yes I tried everything.
Blue color does not go away.
KDE starts with good colors, but before it starts
(i.e. just before splash screen)
the empty dirty-blue screen appears.
How to get rid of it?

I have found this link

http://qa.mandriva.com/twiki/bin/vie...ootSplashHowTo

they suggest to recompile X

This is crasy. There should be an easier way.

Igor.
