Blank screen after decompressing kernel

Known gotchas.
Certain known bugs are being reported over and over. Here are the

Make sure your .config has

but stil blank screen

does anyone has an idea thanks for any help

Make sure, in your grub/lilo config, you are passing "vga=normal" or nothing to the kernel, not something like "vga=791". Also, I messed up my laptop just this morning by compiling a couple of ATI framebuffer modules directly into the kernel.

have the same prob even tried the old acpi=off splash=slient in GRUB

give that a go on a ATI-based laptop as well !
