BlackBox VNC with xstartup

I am trying to start a blackbox vnc session on my computer here, but it keeps starting KDE instead. I found that I did not have an ~/.vnc/xstartup file, so I wrote one. It is as follows:

Code:
[ -r $HOME/.Xresources ] && xrdb $HOME/.Xresources
xsetroot -solid grey
#xterm -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" &
blackbox &
I have blackbox installed via apt-get, but vnc still starts up KDE. I even logged out of my desktop system and tried to log back in through KDM using a BlackBox session type. But it still started KDE. When I logged out, it said that it had used BlackBox previously, even though it had not.

I am totally baffled why vnc is completely avoiding my xstartup file and why I cannot log into anything else besides KDE, but I would really like some help.

not that sure offhand, but for one thing you wouldn't have that and there after the blackbox call. Unless vnc is using it differently it would surely be the same as an xinitrc file, inwhich case putting that & there means it gets forked and then the script completes. when the script completes, that signifies the end of the x session, tso the x server would stop.

how are you actually starting the vnc server? to invoke the xstartup file you would either run it as that user directly with teh vncserver command OR sudo it on boot or something.

I start my vnc sessions with this command

Code:
vncserver :9 -geometry 800x600 -depth 8
This does not explain however that the KDM login manager does not correctly start a blackbox session (it only starts KDE).
