You need to install bittorrent and a client (if you don't want to use the command line interface). Many people use Azureus - you need to install Java if you haven't already.

There's also other clients like bittornado etc if you don't want to deal with java

Like othe people mentioned you need a Bittorent client (so that it understands the bittorent protocol).

Bittorent (http://www.bittorrent.com/) is the official Bittorent written in python

Bittornado (http://www.bittornado.com/) is another client written in python.

Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/) is a Java client with many features (it boils eggs and makes coffee) that many people
use.

ctorrent (http://ctorrent.sourceforge.net/) is a console client written in C with no gui but you can run it very easily remotely from
a screen.

Ktorrent (http://ktorrent.pwsp.net/) is a very good bittorent client written in Qt/C++ for KDE (less features than Azureus but very
good and it is less cpu intensive)

MlDonkey (http://mldonkey.org/) is a E-Mule/Bittorent/Gnutella/etc/etc client which runs as a deamon and it has many gui/web/telnet
interfaces

There are other clients too but these are the most active and the ones most people are using. Visit the webpages and choose
whichever you like.
