For those who remember BitchX, I have a couple of question:
-> How and why was BitchX the most popular (or one of the most popular) IRC clients for UNIX just a few years ago? It wasn't particularly stable and it's scripting language was not particularly nice.. and the documentation seemed pretty poor. I just can't explain it to myself.
-> Is there any reason why anyone would use BitchX these days? Does it do anything better than.. say.. irssi?
-> Are there still hopes for a BitchX comeback (BitchX 2)? Does a need for a comeback still exist?
For those who remember BitchX, I have a couple of question:
Fire away.

Someone will always find a reason. Some people found the original script an advantage over what was readily available at the time and, so stuck with it. There is no law that says you must automatically use the "best" of everything... it is hard enough just determining what that means.

BitchX2 is the current project. While there is no current release to the public on the new code base, the project is leaning towards merging back to the current base version of Epic.

Maybe, or could there be only a few ways to actually do this sort of thing?
