Question Bicycling with laptop: 1)tough/rugged case/bag 2)Tips

I am looking on purchasing a laptop (probably a 15.4 inch widescreen Dell Inspiron 6000, or possibly a 17 inch Widescreen). My main mode of transportation is the bicycle.

I am looking on getting a case or bag that would fully protect the laptop from any bumps (e.g. when the bag on my back swings to one side and hits a pedestrian or a lamp-post/telephone post). and from any falls that I might take. I would like a heavy-duty case. Weight is no issue. If it's heavy, it's okay. I just want to protect the investment! Rainproof-ness is a welcome but not-absolutely-necessary thing.

Do you know of any companies/stores that sell these? What would you recommend for the laptop-carrying bicyclist. Any advice or tips?

I understand that this is not a linux-specific question, but I wasn't sure where else to post. If you know other forums/websites for these sort of questions, please let me know.

Thank you!

j

This should probably be moved to General.. but anyways...

Since you're a bicyclist.. you probably want a backpack style carrying bag... i don't know of any notebook bavkpacks that are *that* protective... i have a nice Targus one... one thing you might look into is one of the solid aluminum briefcases with foam padding... then simply cary that in a backpack?? Falcon Northwest gives you an awesome aluminum carrying caes with the purchase of a notebook and you can have it custom painted to any color/images of your choice with automative-grade finishes.. NICE!!

Hope this helps..

Oh, not the Linux-General, but the General Forum. Okay.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
