Hello all

I currently have a 1ghz, 256mb ram pc on my hands and I'm looking to transform it into a PVR/media centre.
I have looked into a couple of programs, such as LinuxMCE and MythTV but I'm not sure which one would best suit my needs.

My needs are:

PVR functionality (EPG, timeshifting, etc.)

Able to rip DVDs with minimum of fuss

Ability to stream video and music files from other devices on the network, both Windows and Linux. Preferably it would detect these devices automatically (as I am the only linux-savvy person in the house!)

Run well on the older hardware I have (obviously). Maybe if it were a dedicated solution (i.e. not a program running on Linux, but like an actual operating system) then it would run faster (without unnecessary programs)?

Also be useful to have it do as much of these functions without human interaction as possible.
