Best Data Modem installation (ISA) rh7.2

I am trying to install a best data isa modem in 7.2
the box a linux website say it works with Linux.
the instructions say to use KPPP and set up you isp info and tell which device it is on. I did everything it says except for entering the domain name and dns ip address of my isp. I called the isp and they said these are dynamic.

When I click conncect, it says,"modem ready," then after a few seconds, "modem not responding."

thanks for any help.

ps. does this problem fall under networking?

it falls under networking but that is ok..

there is probably a conflict with the modem with irq, com ports.. etc..

what settings are you trying with. my best data modem worked best on com3 irq 9..

If you set the jumpers correctly, try using the RH PPP Dialer, I found that to work much better than the kppp in RedHat.
