Berkeley DB License

I got to know that Berkeley DB is taken over by Oracle. Previously Berkeley DB was under BSD license. Now its under Sleepycat license. Those who don't wish to abide by the terms of the Sleepycat Public License should get the license from Oracle.

As per sleepycat Public License Redistributions in any form must be accompanied by information on how to obtain complete source code for the DB software and any accompanying software that uses the DB software

What will be the case if there are any old commercial softwares (old meaning before Oracle taking Berkeley DB) which is bundling and redistributing Berkeley DB? Should these old commercial softwares now go and get the permission from Oracle?

Thanks in advance.

Berkelely DB -

Years before Oracle bought out sleepycat I researched it and never found an instance of a BSD license for Berkeley DB. Perhaps you are confusing it with postgresql. Show me any archive with a pre-sleepycat BSD license!

If your commercial distro used a pre-sleepycat license and it is BSD, you are home free. It you "update" to the newer version, you also update your license, which is fair.
