Bash, Perl... or python to edit Google Word Documents?

Hi,

I would be interesting in editing my word google documents using a simple lightweight program that remains portable and working on most machines.

there is that google stuff program to fetch your contacts,... into the repositories, but at work, it is not always isntalled on all stations.

Any ideas would be welcome

Thanks

Maybe the most expedient thing to do, quite seriously, would be to install Java on those machines. You want to find the absolutely shortest and simplest path to take, presuming that you actually have to do things this way.

Of course, installing Java on an unsuspecting computer could have unintended side effects.
