bad rhythm on hydrogen drum machine

I am trying to lay down some beats with the hydrogen drum machine, but the tempo is wonky. What I mean is is plays part of the measure fast and part of it slow.

I don't know where to look for the fix. I tried running it on IceWM, thinking the processor would be doing less, but I got the same bad rhythm.
Could I somehow make it so my drum software has priority for the CPU? I am running it on an old Compaq Armada 750 MHz...

Thanks
rK

You can try setting and changing the scheduling priority of processes using the nice and renice commands. chrt is another command that might help. See their manual and info pages.
