Backup strategy
I have two computers, one of these computers runs Redhat Linux 8.0 as FTP,WEB,MAIL server, and another one runs Windows XP and RedHat 8.0.
My problem is that how can i backup the whole image of RedHat server to my windowsXP's computer.I've tried Ghost 2003 but without success.(I used backup via TCP method). The server side has some problem when it started backing up. So,do you guys have any suggestions? 1.Can I mapped a drive at Linux server and backup its image to this mapped drive? 2.Can I backup it up via FTP? Yeah,by the way,I don't like tar or something like this.I would like to backup whole image of my server.:D It's pretty easy to regain my system without any trouble.;) Any suggestions are appreciated. |
Help me please.
No one knows?Please help.

I would have suggested something like Ghost, so I'd have another go at getting that working. Otherwise I would have suggested using say smbmount to mount a share from your windows machine and using tar or cpio to archive the entire machine to the windows share. You might want to look at http://www.partimage.org/ cheers Jamie... PS. What's wrong with tar? |
Thanks.
Thank you so much, jharris. That's what I'm looking for. That's similar to the Norton Ghost 2003.I will try it.:D
