backup and restore user home dir
 
i have centos5 box with 75 user iam going reinstall the os i dont like to recreate all user what are files i have backup

backup the following files and the /home directory

/etc/passwd
/etc/shadow
/etc/group
/etc/gshadow

Or if you plan on keeping the same partition layout, you can simply not overwrite the /home partition to keep it intact. You'll still want to backup the passwd, shadow and group files in /etc as pointed out. You'll also want to make a backup of /home just in case anything goes wrong, but if you want to take that approach, it'll save you the time in actually placing the /home directory contents back on the server, after the reinstall, and if untouched, everything should be there.

Save your /var/log/* if you care about your logs.
