Back in Time?
 

Hey-
running Suse 9.1 Professional, and using KDE 3.2, whatever the most recent non-beta version is. Every now and then, my clock in KDE will show to be an hour behind, although my system clock is correct. Any idea why this is happening?
Don't know if it matters ,but i dual-boot with Windows XP, although i rarely use XP (just to play Need for Speed Underground).

Any ideas?

Check the geographic settings, you may have it set to a zone an hour off or it's calculating wrongly for daylight savings time.

Everything is set properly, best i can tell.. USA, Central Time, and i manually entered the time just to be sure. But roughly every 2 weeks, it will be an hour lost. Its not a gradual time loss, i'll like boot up and the clock's wrong.

But the system clock is correct every time..
and i re-check my time zone settings, and they are correct too. As for daylight savings, that should only affect it twice per year, not this often. But that seems to be set correct too.

Syncing you're system clock with a NTP server?

If so, you may choose a different server.

Also, did you check to see how the machine handles the system time in the BIOS? Some machines have daylight savings capability in the BIOS.

not synching to a server. And as for the daylight savings time, dont think that;'s an issue. If i boot into Windows, that time stays correct.

any other ideas?

You could put:
in rc.local to have your hardware clock set the system time at each boot.
