automounter issue

I am having a wierd automounter issue on ia64 running Red Hat AW213. I am running automounter through NIS maps. The problem is that suppose I am cd to /nfs/x1/x2/x3/x4/x5, if I do pwd after some time, it only gives me /x4/x5. The initial part of the mount expires, due to which, my application starts failing. If I do df, it gives that it is a local mounted directory.

Has anybody seen this problem or can give any suggestions to resolve it?

Thanks.
