automount dvd/cd & ipod not working

i'm not sure what happened, but my ipod shuffle and dvd drive no loner automount when inserted. i now know how to manually mount the dvd drive, but i havent learned how to mount the ipod shuffle. but how can i get automounting of my filesystems back? and how could i go about determining why it stopped? thanks very much.

It'd probably help people help you if you say what distribution and version # you're using.

That said, it might have something to do with hotplug or ivman.

i'm using FC4 with the 2.6.12-1.1456_FC4smp kernel. i just restarted, and it seems that i can automount a usb disk just fine (and unmount using the gui). a dvd (data) disk also automounts now, but i can't get it to unmount properly. i unmount it, but the disk will not eject.

is there a file or place i can look to see what's going on with my dvd drive? i used to have no problems with this at all, so maybe a setting got changed somehow. thanks!

Unfortunately, not using Fedora or ever experiencing that problem myself, I can't offer you specific tips, but maybe this might help?
