Aurora doesn't work!

:newbie: Im using Mandrake 8.1 and I have aurora installed but when I set which version of aurora I want to use in control center and reboot it doesn't work, its still just the traditional startup.

Example:

(Service) [OK]
(Service) [OK]

Aurora might look pretty but if something goes wrong you can't see the error message, it used to be the first thing that I disabled when I used to run mandrake.

Never thought of it like that...still would like to know what is causing it not to run...even if I don't use it.

Aurora is a very beautiful way to startup your system. It does show a message when something goes wrong, however it used to drop a tone of garbage while autodetecting new hardware for some reason so I disabled it. Also the traditional way of startup is way faster than Aurora. As for the reason you cannot change the way Aurora looks from control panel is that you probably haven't installed the other versions ;-) I had the same problem myself when I used it for the first time.
