Audio hassle

Hi,
When I try to play a audio cd,this error message comes up:
Error
CDROM read or access error(or no audio disk in drive).
Please make sure you have access permissions to:/dev/cdrom.
I configured my soundcard and ran test ok.

Thanks

Check the permissions on /dev/dsp, /mixer, /sequencer, /audio and /cdrom + what ever cdrom links to (eg; /dev/hd#).

I have tried looking at various how-to's to figure out how to check these permissions, but with no joy,so if anyone can step me through this,it would be great.

Thanks.

Well I may be wrong, but if you are using X, you can simply right click on the file and choose properties. In there you can change owner or whatever. I think.

Have a look at "man chown" for changing ownership of a file and "man chmod" for changing permissions.
