I have the following problem. I have been playing audio cds in redhat 8 with no problems. I recently upgraded to redhat 9 and it is now a no go. The player starts alright , gets CDDB info correctly and starts palying. It can also skip tracks a.s.o.
There is, however, no sound coming. The new thing is I am now using the alsa drivers for my onboard AC97. Using alsamixer I have set the CD volume to 100%. When the Gnome CD Player starts, its volume bar is all the way down. Pushing it up does not have any effect.
Is there any other mixer which might be in the way?
I ave looked into a few threads on this topic but didn'T find any solutions that work for me.
I had the same problem. I also have Red Hat 9... just configure your sound again, you don't have to make any changes... just play test sound... if you hear anything click yes...
